Builders reach lofty goals: Ironworkers at apartment tower celebrate topping off; while Case Mead Lofts prepare to open

PROVIDENCE — The first days of spring are marking important milestones for two new apartment developments in downtown Providence.

On Wednesday morning, ironworkers braved the whipping winds for a topping-off ceremony at Vision Properties' new 15-story apartment tower at 169 Canal St., part of the Edge College Hill development. More than 200 apartments geared for the student rental market are coming, with a planned Sept. 1 opening.

And next Monday, Paolino Properties will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the 44-unit Case Mead Lofts, an $8.5-million renovation of a historical building at 76 Dorrance St.
